On April 13, 2021, the 2020 annual promotion meeting of the National Key RESEARCH and development program "Key Technologies for Value-added Processing of Posthearvest Fruits and by-products of Characteristic Economic Forests", undertaken by the College of Biosystems Engineering and Food Science of Zhejiang University, was held in Hangzhou. Teacher Ding Mingquan from the Third Project Management Department of Science and Technology Development Center of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Vice Minister Wang Fangzhan from Agriculture and Social Development Department of Zhejiang University, project consulting experts, project and project leaders and more than 60 project team members attended the meeting. The meeting was co-chaired by Professor Ding Mingquan and the project chief researcher Xiao Gengsheng.

At the meeting, Teacher Ding mingquan emphasized the project management requirements of the Third Project Management Department of the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and suggested that the project implementation process should earnestly fulfill the legal person responsibility system of the project leader unit, implement the management of the use of funds, focus on cultivating landmark achievements, and strengthen the publicity of achievements and science popularization. Vice Minister Wang Fangzhan congratulated the smooth progress of the project and pointed out that the implementation of the project is of great significance to the development of forest and fruit industry. Xu Yujuan, director of the processing Institute, expressed her heartfelt thanks to the leaders at all levels and experts and teachers who have been concerned about the progress of the project, and promised to fulfill relevant responsibilities and do a good job in project management as the legal person of the leading unit. Researcher Xiao Gengsheng reported the expected goals of the project, the overall research progress, the research achievements, the implementation of the project funds and the project management to the participants. At the same time, the leaders of each subject reported in detail the progress of the research, the research results obtained, and the implementation of the project funds.

After listening to the introduction of each subject leader, project leader and project progress, the experts of the project advisory expert group made comments on the project. Experts praised the successful implementation of the project despite the impact of the epidemic and its fruitful results. It was suggested that in the later implementation process of the project, the contact and communication between subjects and projects should be strengthened, a batch of demonstrative landmark results should be cultivated and evaluated, and the implementation of funds and results statistics and sorting should be carried out, and the transformation and implementation of results should be done well.

In the end, Professor Xiao Gengsheng, the project leader, summarized and emphasized that the project was not easy to be approved, and there were problems of insufficient communication and management in the project implementation process. Experts' opinions should be carefully listened to, rectification measures should be implemented, task objectives should be completed with high quality, and the development of forest and fruit industry should be promoted. After the project meeting, internal discussion was organized for each subject.

The convening of the project promotion meeting pointed out the direction for the implementation of the next project and laid a solid foundation for the overall completion of the project.
