Speaker Introduction：

Sven G. Sommer (SGS) is a full-professor at Aarhus University, Denmark and also an experienced specialist in manure engineering with focus on biowaste and manure management aiming at developing the best possible processes and management for using the biowaste and manure and at the same time reduce pollution from these. The studies carried out include composting, biogas production and reduction of gas emission (ammonia and greenhouse gases). The research has a strong focus on organic matter chemistry and biological and chemical processes related to the transformation of the organic components in biowaste/manure. His research has includes studied of:

1) Chemical processes and microbial activity affecting transformation of the manure

2) Composting and biogas production.

3) Development and implementation of efficient and cheap techniques for managing the biomass.

4) System analysis and models of manure management

SGS has broad international research experience from two sabbatical leaves, i.e. one year at Lincoln University in 1994-1995 and half a year in 2015, and half a year at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Lethbridge (2003) and 3 months at IGER (2011). Through his assignments in Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Mozambique, Kirgisistan and China, SGS is well equate with collaborating with researchers and end users of the research under very different working conditions. SGS has considerable experience in working in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
